The Lower School (Grades PK-5) curriculum is an inquiry-based program of instruction encompassing language arts, math, social studies and science. Carlisle teachers weave together all areas of study to create an enriching college preparatory education experience.
Language skills focus on a rich reading experience and creative self-expression which cultivate a love of reading. Students learn handwriting, spelling and vocabulary through structured multisensory teaching techniques. Carlisle places a strong focus on creative written expression and the proper use of grammar. Mathematical instruction is comprised of centers, manipulatives and individualized instruction, the combination of which allows each student to achieve his utmost potential. Social Studies begins with personal identity and then expands to help children learn about their family, community, state, country, and the world. The science curriculum focuses on discovery and innovation through exploration and experimentation. Instruction in foreign languages, art, music, library, guidance, science, computers and physical education further enhances the Carlisle Lower School experience.
