Carlisle School Foundation

About the Foundation

The Carlisle School Foundation is part of the Education Improvement Scholarships Tax Credits (EISTC) program established by the Virginia Department of Education. The program offers donors a 65 percent state tax credit on top of any applicable deductions for charitable giving on their tax returns. As an approved scholarship foundation, The Carlisle School Foundation uses tax-credit-derived funds to offer scholarships to students who wish to attend private schools within the Commonwealth. Families who qualify for financial aid at individual schools may also be eligible for this additional scholarship funding through The Carlisle School Foundation.

To be eligible for a scholarship, student(s) must be a resident of the state of Virginia and have a family income of less than 300 percent of the current poverty guidelines by family size as determined by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, or 400 percent in the case of a student with a disability. The student must also meet one of the following criteria:

  • Attended a Virginia public school for the prior year
  • In the current year, has attended a Virginia public school for one semester and transferred to a private school
  • Is eligible to enter either kindergarten or first grade
  • Was not a resident of Virginia for the year immediately preceding receipt of the scholarship and did not attend a non-public school
  • Is a prior recipient of a scholarship foundation scholarship

Scholarship funds from the Carlisle School Foundation are only available to schools that donors have recommended us to support with their contributions. These authorized schools are held to stringent reporting requirements on financial administration and academic achievement. Schools served by the Carlisle School Foundation in 2022-2023 include:

  • Amelia Academy, Amelia, VA
  • Carlisle School, Martinsville, VA
  • Regents School, Charlottesville, VA

Additional schools may become approved by contacting Mandy Horsley or Amy Parikh.
