Strings Program Returns

Dear Carlisle Family,

It is with great excitement that I am announcing the reinstatement of the Carlisle School Strings Program for the 2019-2020 school year.

Beginning this year,  students in grades 1-5 will have the opportunity to participate in optional group lessons during the school day. The lower school classes will start with the very basics, using the Suzuki Violin School and Essential Elements to teach listening skills, proper string techniques, and note reading.

The middle and upper school group lessons are based on skill level and will be offered during study hall periods when available.

Parents and students are responsible for securing instruments and purchasing two string manuals. The book cost will be approximately $20.  Rentals are available at most music stores and prices vary. Two recommendations for rental/purchase are Moore Music in Greensboro and Shar Music.

Private weekly or biweekly lessons will be available after-school to accommodate all students whose academic schedules will not allow for in-school lessons.  These lessons are an additional cost but will provide one-on-one skill-building.

It is my goal to develop a well-rounded string group that will be able to play competitively and to experience the joy of the string ensemble. I am so very excited to start this journey with you. There is so much talent among our students here at Carlisle, and I look forward to watching them grow!
