Random Thoughts on a Sunny (Finally!) Afternoon

This morning we celebrated Kaleb Johnson’s signing with Georgetown University. It struck me, as I visited with Kaleb’s family and basketball teammates, that Georgetown is getting quite a bargain. What are we going to do when Shane and Abby Hensley graduate with their son Logan in two weeks? The hours they have dedicated to organizing the annual Carlisle Rummage Sale, to leading the Martinsville Parent Association, to cooking hot dogs at school gatherings, to hosting an international student, to supporting their son’s school in countless other ways . . . I can’t begin to put a number on them. Nor can we begin to thank them enough.

Keith Dallas’s job as Athletic Director cannot be much fun this spring. Rain is playing havoc with the schedule, as all Carlisle’s interscholastic teams have seen more games postponed than completed. If you haven’t seen Carlisle’s renovated baseball and softball fields, pick a sunny day — more are surely coming! — and come watch a game.

Make plans to come see the Carlisle Players in Grease next weekend. The show will be the last hurrah for seniors Dyer Pace, Makenzie Nesbit, and others. It’s sure to be another Anne Norman extravaganza!

The Carlisle Classic Golf Tournament, to be held May 8 at Chatmoss Country Club, is filling up! This year’s par 3 prizes are extravagant. Golfers will be aiming for a chance to win a trip for two to Las Vegas, a set of new clubs, and — yes — a $1,000,000 annuity! Go big or go home. Get your registration in before it’s too late.

Excitement is growing about the increased use of the internet and other electronic sources to enhance classroom materials in 2015-16. Please be on the lookout for another e-mail blast from me this month regarding progress made on the strategic plan during this school year. Thanks for helping us along the way.
