For school leaders, once the end-of-year teachers’ meetings end, and report cards go out — generally about five days after graduation — summer is all about looking ahead. For us at Carlisle, the past six weeks have seen extensive planning for the 2014-15 school year and beyond. The Board of Trustees spent its annual retreat prioritizing items in the soon-to-be-revealed strategic plan. The administration has devoted the last two weeks to reviewing practices and policies and to assigning responsibility for strategic plan elements. Progress at the new Danville campus continues apace, and a committee of teachers, administrators, and trustees is developing a school-wide technology plan that emphasizes enhanced learning. Meanwhile, the admissions office is dealing with a last-minute flurry of applications. It it a busy time for us as we prepare to welcome back Carlisle’s raison d’etre in just a few short weeks.
We hope that you are as excited as we are. Our goal this year is to stay in close touch with our supporters and encourage your involvement as we take our next giant strides forward. We will progress rapidly if we are all rowing in the same direction.
Enjoy what is left of the summer. We’ll be looking for you next month!
