Year I Started at Carlisle: 2010
Education: B.S. from Longwood University
Family: Husband, Richard, of 20 years. Two children, Ashley (24) and Cody (18). I have also had the privilege to be a host mother through Carlisle’s International Program to Ken Chen, Peter Suo, Scott Wang, Liko Bum and Eiddy Guo over the last several years, which has been a great experience.
Pets: 2 dogs, Maggie and Roxie
Interests/Hobbies: volunteering and helping out with sports teams, crafts, camping and spending time with family.
Teaching Approach/Philosophy: While teaching young students, I like to make learning fun. It is extremely important to incorporate play into learning. Young minds love to inquire and explore new ideas. I try to incorporate as much hands-on learning, as well.
Favorite Part of Teaching: Seeing children’s faces light up when they have mastered a concept or skill. I also love being greeted with smiles and hugs each day.
What I Hope My Students Learn: I hope that my students learn that learning can be fun. Also, even at this young age, I feel it is important for them to know that your actions are truly as important as your words. Good character will take them far in life.
