Possible makeup days as a result of the inclement weather

As you're well aware, we have experienced perhaps the worst winter that the area has seen in over 10 years. As a result of this we have already lost several days of school and although the BBS system and other methods have provided a useful temporary alternative, they were never intended to be used in a long-term capacity to replace direct classroom instruction.

As a result of the poor weather, the administration has been working diligently to think of ways to make up some instructional days without causing mayhem. We have already decided to make February 15 (Presidents' Day) a regular school day -- this day was on the calendar as a makeup snow day from the outset. We already know that we will not infringe upon the long spring break and the possibility of extending school beyond our graduation date is also not a realistic possibility as many of our instructors go on to work at other institutions during the early portion of June.

Therefore, we are currently looking at ways to reclaim schooldays using the calendar between now and the end of the school year. We understand the need to minimize inconvenience to families, but are also aware that a certain number of instructional days are needed for us to deliver our curriculum to your children.

Plans for makeup days will follow shortly. In the meantime, we appreciate your patience with us as we all try to deal with continued poor weather and the havoc wrought by it.
