Carlisle School is making efforts as part of its strategic plan to serve as a convener of educational opportunities for the local community. Two recent events, the Youth Leadership Summit and Edcamp SoVa, provided opportunities for students, educators and administrators to work with those in the community to develop skills, knowledge and expertise in the field of education and leadership.
Once a month you can walk through Carlisle’s Lower School and witness something truly special. The laughter and excited chatter spilling out of the classrooms and the beaming faces can mean only one thing – it’s Mentoring Day.
Familiar faces at Carlisle School will assume new positions in key administration roles starting this summer. Keith Dallas, Carlisle’s current Athletic Director, will replace Gayle Jessee as the new Upper School Director upon her retirement, and the vacated Athletic Director position will be filled by Mancino Craighead.
In the last 25 years, Gayle Jessee has worn many different hats at Carlisle School – teacher, coach, administrator, and most recently, Upper School Director. But after 25 years of serving students, Jessee has decided that now is the time to retire.
For 30 Carlisle students, new classes, schedules and teachers are just a small part of the transition back to school. Add to that a new country, speaking a new language and living with new families and the transition becomes a bit more challenging. For the past 10 years, Carlisle School has been welcoming students from around the world as part of its International Program.
